Kenneth George Yeo

August 18, 2012

(October 2, 1926 – August 18, 2012)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Yeo; husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After a brave battle with asbestosis, Ken found serenity at the age of 85, passing in his sleep at the Nanaimo General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Beverly; four children Janice Aitken (Ron), Keith (Hazel), Clifford (Katherine) and Les (Laurie); ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ken was born in Swan Lake, Manitoba and joined the RCN at 17 years of age as a cook. He met the love of his life Beverly Smith in Victoria and settled there to raise a family. Ken retired after over 27 years working at Wescraft Manufacturing and moved to Qualicum Beach. He was a friend of Bill W for over 59 years. He was an accomplished gardener, an avid artist and had a passion for cooking for those he loved. Ken will be lovingly remembered as a patriarch and benevolent soul with a quick wit, naval sense of humour and a kind, generous heart. A celebration of his life will be held on August 25, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion BR76, 180 Veterans Way, Qualicum Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Ken.
