Sadly, Ken passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH after a very short illness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Marian; son, Keith (Heide) Heiman of Fort St James; daughter, Brenda (Bejay) Patterson of Parksville; grandchildren, Cole, Tyson, Kali, Mikayla, and Clover; in-laws, Janie (Greg) Simister, Bill (Elsie) Reid, Ruth Reid; brothers, Dave (Lydian) Heiman, Barry, Greg; mother-law, Ethel (Fred) Nott; as well as numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ken was predeceased by Elizabeth Banman, Ron Heiman, Eddy Reid, and Agnes Stanley.

Ken was born in Chilliwack and moved to Port Alberni when he was 10 years old. He worked at the Somass Mill for 41 years and after retiring from the mill went to work at Arrowsmith Moving & Storage to keep himself busy.

Ken loved to travel, ride his motorcycle, sail, and take long walks with his best friend, Willy.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him but most especially the love of his life, his wife “Maria”.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ken’s honour at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 8th at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, 1240 Leffler Road in Errington. No flowers by request.

Those wishing to honour Ken’s memory may do so by making a donation in his name to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, PO Box 364, Errington, BC V0R 1V0 – a cause that was close to his heart.
