Last month Ken was reunited with his brothers - the three amigos are finally back together, along with his treasured dogs, Patches and Cindy.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of his beautiful soul. If you knew Ken, you knew how big his heart was, how much he loved his family, and how much he missed his brothers. The amount he was able to give when he had so little was amazing. He would always find a way to support those in his life.
Ken passed away in the Nanaimo hospital with his family by his side as they sang Country Road and 16 Tons, and sent him on his way with all of their love. Ken leaves behind his two children Nicole and Kristinn, his dear friend Barb, his grandson Everett, his ever-supportive nieces and nephews, and his friends. His last few years gave him some of his greatest joys; the birth of his grandson, Everett, to Nicole and her spouse Aaron and Everett sharing Ken's name; the engagement between his son Kristinn and his loving partner Heather.
Born in the remote west coast town of Bella Bella, BC, to Jona and Lawrence while living in Namu, his passion for fishing was bound to be in his Viking blood. The great Pacific Ocean offered its fair share of challenges but he caught his fair share of feasts.
You are forever loved and never forgotten. We love you Ken/Dad/Afi.
Ken would be beside himself if there was a big to-do in his honour, so in true Benson style the family will host a toast and memorial November 30th, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at the Longwood Pub Brewer's Dining Room (upstairs), 5775 Turner Road, Nanaimo, BC. All are welcome.
