Kevin Patrick McGuinness
March 5, 1948 – November 4, 2016
Peacefully at home in Nanoose Bay on November 4th after a short battle with cancer, Kevin passed way in his wife’s arms with his sister and pet Lola at his side.
Kevin was born in Vancouver on March 5, 1948. He graduated from B.C.I.T. in 1970 with a degree in Business Management and spent most of his working life in business for himself.
He moved and retired to Vancouver Island in 2001 where he rediscovered his passion for photography. Kevin’s exploration of the relationship between light and shadow was remarkable and made for his strong and recognizable style. His compositional sense was simply brilliant. He was an active member of the Oceanside Photographer’s Club winning “Photographer of the Year” in 2014.
He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Marjorie McGuinness; sister, Maureen; and first wife, Jennifer Doyle.
Kevin will forever be remembered by his wife, Linda; sister, Colleen Kason; brother, Shaun McGuinness and his wife Robyn; as well as many nieces and nephews. His close friends, Ade and Brenda Wright, Bob Korsvoll, Sharon Armstrong, Marg Pickard and Claire Craigon made his final days a source of joy with their encouragement, support and love.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Marlene Van der Weyde, the Oceanside VIHA nurses and support team and the staff at Victoria Cancer Clinic. They made this journey for Kevin one of great dignity with their dedicated care.
At Kevin’s request there will not be a formal service.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future at his home.
