ZOBEL, Kurt Karl
March 6, 1924 - April 6, 2006
Born in Germany on March 6, 1924, he married his childhood sweetheart Inge Roessler, and in 1957 we immigrated to Canada to start a new life. My “Pappi” was a Master Mechanic and worked at Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg for over 30 years. Both loved motorcycles, opera, camping, fishing, Formula 1 racing, and dancing. Whenever music played, he would hold out his hand to my Mom, and all the people who knew them would say, “There they go again!” Kurt could repair any engine for his friends, and did so for fun. He was also a painter and a wood carver. When Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he took loving care of her until her death in 2000. He fought his own battle with cancer with humour and optimism, but met his Maker on April 6, 2006 at Nanaimo General.He is survived by daughters Marianne Connors of Nanoose Bay, Colleen Zobel of Winnipeg, sister Ruth Witt in Berlin, Germany, and five grandchildren: Curtis and Christopher in Alberta, and Tina, Matthew, Katie, and great-granddaughter Alexandra in BC. We miss him so much.
A Memorial Service was held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on April 12th.
