ANDERSON, LAWRENCE WEIR

July 30, 1949 – July 20, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Anderson on July 20, 2016. Born in Victoria, BC he was the son of the late Arnold Brookman and Sybil Ruth (Pedlingham) Anderson. At the age of two, the family moved to West Vancouver, BC where he grew up. While commercial fishing out of Ucluelet, Lawrence met the love of his life, Gladys in 1977. They moved to Nanoose, BC where they raised their three children.

Lawrence was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Gladys Anderson, daughters Gloria (Ivan), Sybil (Ian), his son Drew (Kate) and five grandchildren, the joy of his heart, Trentin, Tyra, Marshall, Eric and Barrett. He is also survived by brothers King (Cindy), Keith (Chris), sister Jane Anderson (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. He attended Hillside Secondary School in West Vancouver. He completed his apprenticeship as a Ship’s Plater and Loftsman in 1974 at Burrard Dry Dock in North Vancouver. He was a member of the Marine and Shipbuilders Local 506 and The Boilermakers Union Local 191. His career took him to many places. He worked in Alberta, the Arctic and various cities and towns across British Columbia.

Lawrence was an avid yachtsman and sport shooter. He was a member of the Parksville, Qualicum Fish and Game Association for many years.

Lawrence had a big heart and lived life on his terms. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 13, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at

St. Mary’s Anglican Church Hall, 2600 Powder Point Rd., Nanoose Bay, BC
