(1942-2006)

Lee Albert Oman, 64, died on August 15, 2006 at his home in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Lee was born on July 25, 1942 in North Bend, Oregon to Fred and Arline (Brigham) Oman. He was raised in Coos Bay, Oregon where he received his education and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1960.

On March 3, 1973, Lee married Mary Van Herwaarden in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia and they recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. Over the years, they made their home in Forest Grove until 1974 when they moved to the Grants Pass/Medford area. During the late 70’s and early 80’s, they lived in the Rogue Valley and in 1985 they returned to Forest Grove. In 1998, Lee retired from the Oregon Department of Forestry as the Northwest Oregon Area Director, after 31 years of service.

Lee is survived by his wife, parents, brother Gary, and sons Christopher, Jon and Kyle. Extended family includes Mary’s parents Evert and Tina Van Herwaarden; sisters-in-law Jeri, Betsy and Cathy; brothers-in-law Evert Jr., Allan and John; daughter-in-law Darla; six grandchildren Naomi, Stephen, Derek, Rachel, Garrett and Luke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Lee’s life will be held on September 1st in Forest Grove, Oregon.
