Lindsay Verne STRICKLAND

February 8, 2013

December 1, 1924 - February 8, 2013

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of our Dad, Lindsay Verne Strickland at the age of 88.

Dad passed away peacefully after a brief illness in Nanaimo Pallative Care. Predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Strickland in 2005 and his brothers Ralph, Don and sister Lil.

He is survived by his devoted 3 children, Gary (Sandra), Janice (Jim) and Loraine (Larry). He was an amazing Papa to Erin, Travis, Darin

Lindsay, Alan and Matt and 5 great grandsons. He also leaves behind his companion and best friend, Betty Gwyer whom he shared his last 7 years with in Parksville.

Dad was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba and came to Victoria after the war and fell in love with our Mom and the island. In his younger days he was an avid hockey player and fisherman. He could work a room and convey the warmest thoughts and deliver humour in any speeches he made with the best of them.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Nanaimo General Hospital and Pallative Care Unit for their wonderful care and kindness.

To miss Verne is certainly understandable - to

remember Dad without a smile would be a crime.

No formal service at Dad’s request. The family and close friends will celebrate Dad’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nanaimo Pallative Care.
