We are heartbroken to announce Loretta's passing at Lions Gate Hospital. She is joining her son, Dale (2017), Mom (Beda) and Dad (Angel), and brothers Carl and Ron. We find comfort knowing that they are all together again, with much loved dog, Julie, sitting on her lap. Lettie is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jack, daughters Donna (Rod), Leah, and Tracey (Marcel). She was so very proud of her much-loved grandchildren Brad (Dene), Courtney (Amos), Jack, Madisyn and Morgan. And extra special great grandchild, Owen. Brothers, Gerry and David, and sister, Judy (Tom), will dearly miss their big sister Lettie.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the heroic effort Lions Gate Hospital provided in 2016. We were the luckiest family to have been given the gift of having her in our lives for another two years, in which time she had the great joy of seeing Owen grow from baby to toddler. As well, numerous family celebrations were enjoyed during this time. New Years eve's game of Cheat was particularly memorable with lots of laughter, AND she won the game!!!
Loretta was born and raised in Port Alberni with her five siblings. After working for Woodwards, she married Jack and started their family. Her love for babies led them to becoming foster parents while living in Port Alberni. In 1964 the family was transferred to North Vancouver and were blessed to have two more daughters. Another of her great loves throughout her life was dreaming, designing and creating beautiful homes, which she lovingly accomplished on Vancouver Island, the North Shore, Whistler and Palm Springs. She never stopped designing. And many friends were quick to get her advice on any ideas she could provide them.
Jack and Let spent many happy times travelling with close friends Marilyn and Dennis to Hawaii, Joan and Lorne, Grace and Perry, and Gary and Danielle to California. Lettie never really enjoyed flying so eventually cruising back and forth to Vancouver Island was what she loved. Qualicum Beach was a very special home where we have endless beautiful memories of pickleball tournaments and family celebrations which usually ended by spending a magical summers night watching the sun set over the ocean.
In lieu of flowers please donate to BC Childrens Hospital or a charity of your choice. We will be arranging a summer celebration with a date to be determined.
We will so miss mom's presence but will remember her for her quiet guidance and know that in every sunset she will be watching over us.
