In Loving Memory ~
"Sometimes we live no particular way but our own"
- The Grateful Dead

Lorne is loved and respected by his best friend and wife of 52. years Cindy and his children, Melissa (Graeme), Jessica (Jay), Lucas (Erin) and his adoring and adored grandchildren Kai, Isla, Daisy and Riley. We are all better people for having been led and loved by Lorne...Dad...Grandad.
Lorne was one of the coolest men you could ever meet, a solitary, quiet man who found happiness in his garden, by the river or floating from dusk until dawn in his boat on the lake, fly rod in hand. To watch him cast his rod was like watching magic happen.
A sensitive, intuitive, artistic individual that deeply cared for his family and good friends Lorne lived a life full of wonder and adventure.
Born in Penticton with his younger years spent between Keremeos and Vancouver, he was a bit of a punk. He harboured a love for unique cars, playing music and art, he could silkscreen, carve, paint, design, tattoo and arrange flowers.
He was a staple in the 60's music scene in Vancouver, he knew the bands, he played in the bands- he and his friends would pile into a van to greet their favourite The Grateful Dead at the airport and live out the stories that you only read in books.
Amongst the eccentric hippy scene Lorne met Cindy in 1968, and they married in 1969.
Together they lived a life less ordinary, knowing the power of slow living, respecting the planet and guiding their children with quiet yet powerful teachings. His grandchildren saw him as the grand collector, his house & garden a museum to explore. To them he told stories, made funny faces and drew the best pictures.
Lorne's heart was full of love, his interests varied and growing- he was great at everything, could fix anything, always in his own way. His passions were rustic camping, music, fly fishing & fly tying, his red 68 GMC truck and 69 triumph chopper and his beautiful garden.
He and Cindy bought their quaint character home 35 years ago and transformed it into a magical world that they loved to share with others. 'Buffalo Man' worked at the Big Q Fish Hatchery for 25 years, perfect for a man who loved fishing.
When not at work he was in his garden until dark tending to his rhododendrons of which he had well over 100 and perfecting his garlic growing. Heading to the Interior of BC each summer and fall to find solace on the lake.
We are all lost without him and are honouring him every day. "Every silver lining has a touch of grey"
We would like to thank all of the kind people and first responders who did their very best to keep him with us, we are so grateful for your efforts.
Please join us to celebrate Lorne's life well lived when the rhodos bloom, May 14 2022 at 1pm where the sun shines in his garden.
