Lorraine Bilokryly was born on Sept. 11th,1930 as Marion Lorraine Payne, in Springside, Sask. She spent her earlier years in Sask. attending school in Clear Creek, Stockholm and Theodore. Lorraine went onto nursing training at Yorkton General Hospital and graduated in 1953.
Lorraine married Murray Bilokryly in that same year in Yorkton. They had one daughter, Cathy, before moving to Regina in 1963. Their second daughter, Nancy, was born in 1967. Lorraine thrived in her nursing career eventually practicing in long term care at the Pioneer Village in Regina where she worked for over 30 years. Her husband, Murray passed away of cancer in 1985.
Her passions had always been dancing and country and western music. She also loved golf and relished the opportunity to play a round a week. In 1996 she retired and joined her close friend, Sherv Shragge on Vancouver Island. They became a couple and lived in Columbia Beach and Parksville before eventually moving into the Gardens in Qualicum Beach.
Marion Lorraine suffered a stroke on May 18th and passed away in her sleep on June 7th.
Marion Lorraine Bilokryly is survived by her common law husband of 23 years, Sherv Shragge and two daughters, Cathy Kelly and Nancy Beyer, 4 grandchildren, Jasmine and Shaun Kelly; Allison and Jordyn Beyer and 2 great grandchildren, Caleb and Chase.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday June 12th at St. Stephens United Church in Qualicum Beach. Second services will be held in Theodore Sask. on June 29 at 11 am at the United Church.
