Lorraine was born in Red Deer Alberta on June 8, 1927. She attended schools in Red Deer and Calgary and then went into training at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.

After nursing in Calgary, she went to Brooks, Alberta where she met Jim Hook. He was enrolled in Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and after marriage; she nursed at the University of Alberta Hospital.

Upon Jim’s graduation, they moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with their three children, where Jim specialized in Ophthalmology from 1964-67. They returned to Medicine Hat and remained there until Jim retired in 1992, when they moved to Qualicum Beach. Jim passed away in 1993 and Lorraine has remained here until her passing.

Lorraine enjoyed hiking, curling, golf and bridge.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1993, by her 2 sisters, 1 brother, and her parents. Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her children Brenda; Brent and his children, Whitney, Courtney and Taylor and their mother Judy Hook.; Jeri Lynne (Doug) Nickerson and their 2 boys Jamie and Kevin. She is also survived by 2 nieces Maureen (Ron) Cherkas and Marilyn (Terry) La Boucane

There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Lorraine’s memory by making a donation in her name to the MS Society of Canada, Central Island Chapter, #200 – 1585 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC V9S 1G4.
