In Loving Memory ~
Louise Jeannine Roy passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 7, 2022, after a prolonged battle with a benign meningioma.
Louise was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on January 4, 1946. Her adventurous spirit and desire to make a difference in the world, took her to Baffin Island, where she raised her family and was an educator in the northern school system.
In 1979, she took a one-year sabbatical and graduated with a Master's degree in Education from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Louise also studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris. Her next opportunity came when she used her bilingual skills to serve her community by training court interpreters in Yellowknife, NWT.
In later years, eventually in partnership with her son, Aaron Nicklen, Louise was very proud to have guided countless people to purchase or sell their homes. Over an illustrious career of 30 years, Louise was recognized for being one of the top-producing real estate professionals in the Oceanside area of Vancouver Island.
She made and retained many special friends by being caring and supportive before, during, and after those important transactions.
During this past year, Louise took on the biggest challenge of her meaningful life as she tried to find her way back to health. She did it in her unique and indomitable way, always positive, cheerful, and determined, no matter how difficult it was. One last time,
Louise showed us what a remarkable teacher she was. Perhaps the biggest lesson was one of perseverance, resilience, and grace in the face of adversity. As always, she did it with joy and gratitude in her heart.
Louise is survived by her sons, Aaron Nicklen (Mark Stainer) and Paul Nicklen (Cristina Mittermeier).
Her family, along with the legion of beloved friends that were her extended family, invite you to join them to celebrate her extraordinary life at Yates Memorial Services on Sunday, November 27 at 2 pm. All are welcome.
Due to limited space, there will not be a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to Sea Legacy, or a charity of your choice that supports the preservation of the environment.
