Lucille Ward

May 25, 1917 – November 30, 2013

With sad hearts our family announces the passing of our dear mother, Lucille Ward. At 96 years of age, Mom went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 30, 2013 at Kiwanis Lodge in Nanaimo, where she had resided for the last several years.

Born in Greenwood, Nova Scotia to Frank and Annie Pierce, she was one of five children and enjoyed a wonderful childhood. In 1937, Lucille married Guilford Ward of Tremont, where they farmed together for forty-five years and raised nine children. Our parents were highly respected throughout the Annapolis Valley and beyond.

In 1985, Guilford passed away and Lucille moved to Parksville, BC two years later to be closer to her children. She developed many dear friendships while in Parkville, and later in Nanaimo. Lucille enjoyed numerous trips abroad, including Hawaii, Germany, the Caribbean, Arizona, and the Holy Land.

Lucille is predeceased by her husband, Guilford; two infant children: son, Brian who passed away in December of 2006. She leaves behind and will be greatly missed by sons, Leroy (Barbara) Ward of Coombs, BC, Warren (Barbara) Ward of Coombs, BC; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ward of Qualicum Beach, BC; daughters, Carlene (Emerson) Lutz of Brampton, Ontario, Barbara (Lowell) Jett of Downers Grove, Illinois, Brenda (John) Hingston of Nanaimo, BC, Ella Mae (Olaf) Westphal of Kitimat, BC, Marilyn (David) McGrath of Black Creek, BC, and Sherry (Paul) Austin of Delta, BC. Lucille also leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren who loved her dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1650 Waddington Road in Nanaimo, BC
