BREKKE, Lyle G
It is with deep sorrow that weannounce the sudden passing ofLyle G Brekke on March 4.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth, and loving father of Howard (Jen), Graham, and Wade (Leah). Lyle also leaves behind his mother Alice, a brother Glen (Dorothy), sisters Elaine, Janice (Joe), & Sharon, and sister-in-law Judy (Jim), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lyle grew up in the lower mainland and spent his early years working at various jobs. He entered into the RCMP at the age of 24, and spent 28 years with the force in various posts in Alberta. Lyle and Ruth retired and moved back to BC to build their dream home. Between their acreage and their pets they had their hands full, but they were happiest when they were puttering around their property. Important family activities for Lyle included: salmon fishing with Louis; camping with the family; playing cards with Ruth, Hazel, Connie, and the kids; being a scout leader; and coaching hockey: these activities, and others, provided opportunities for humorous stories that Lyle would regale us with. He was always happy and was never at a loss to pause and smile for a picture. We’ll really miss his smile and his stories.
We love you and we miss you already. Thanks for being a great husband and a fantastic dad; you always tied our skates just right.
A memorial gathering will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lupus Canada.
