It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Margaret at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.Born in Renfrew, Scotland, Margaret returned to her Canadian home with her mother at 6 weeks of age. Margaret completed her school years in Prince Rupert, Revelstoke, Cranbrook, and Vancouver. Trained as a psychiatric nurse at Fssendale Hospital, she joined the Vancouver Police Department as a jail matron, becoming one of the first women on the force to receive equal pay as a constable. Marriage and family brought Margaret to Lantzville. Predeceased by her husband Jacob in 2002, she is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kristine, cousins John Hutchinson and Margaret Kennedy, her many Danish in-laws and her sisters in guiding.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Longlake Chateau, 3035 Ross Road, Nanaimo on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 2pm. Her ashes will be interred in Prince Rupert later this year.

Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the World Friendship Fund, Girl Guides of Canada, 28-1708 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9S 1G9.
