MARGARET KATHLEEN CALLA (LJUNGGREN)

June 30, 1931 – March 22, 2014

Margaret passed peacefully at home surrounded by family, friends and her loving, devoted husband John Calla.

She was born in Blumenhof Saskatchewan, one of eight children. She married John Calla in 1948 and they resided most of their life in North and West Vancouver until they retired to Qualicum Beach in the early 1980’s. She was known by all to be a soft spoken, quiet and loving person. She had an inner strength that was obvious to all who knew her. She was an industrious, hard working and kind soul. She worked as a bookkeeper for the family business most of her life. She was well known as a devoted wife, mother and Nana to 12 grandkids and 20 great-grand kids. With a love for babies and children and a lifetime dedicated to her family, Margaret often stated that raising her family was the best time of her life.

She and her husband were known for their love of square dancing and ballroom dancing. They enjoyed RVing, traveling and playing card games and dominoes.

She could always be found in her garden insisting on hand watering her vegetables and extensive flower gardens. She enjoyed her bird watching, reading and spending time with family. Her sewing machine was always producing amazing things.

She is survived by husband of 65 years John Calla, and their children; Terry Calla (Mary), David Calla (Arda), Debbie Ralkie (Norm) and Penny Giesbrecht (Rick). Special thanks to Kelly and Tyler Jones, Jennifer Huebschwerlen, Norman Ralkie Jr., Andrea Kingsley, Shannon-Shylene Schlackl, Rebecka Morgan, Mary Calla, James Jones, Kyle Falconer, Roary McConkey, Bob & Sue Dean and Lyn Warrington who participated in caring for Margaret and or supported the family. Thanks to Dr Desai, the home and community nurses, Oceanside Hospice and Yates Funeral Services.
