Margaret Rose Finck passed away in the early hours of May 27, 2018. She was 84 years old.

Margaret was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Harry and Mary Flett.

As a young woman Margaret moved to Ocean Falls "on a lark" and began working in the restaurant of the local hotel. There she met and fell in love with Roy Finck who had recently moved to BC from Nova Scotia and was working in the Ocean Falls paper mill.

Roy and Margaret were soon married and had their first child, a daughter. Soon after Roy took a job at the newly-expanded paper in Port Alberni and the young family moved there. Two more children, a son and a daughter, came along over the next few years.

Margaret and Roy were fortunate to have many friends and relatives in Port Alberni. Margaret bought the Village Shoppe Ladies Wear, which she ran successfully with the help of her two sisters. Roy and Margaret retired to Qualicum Beach and enjoyed several years of summers in Qualicum and snowbird winters in Southern California and Arizona.

Unfortunately, Roy died much too soon. The snowbird lifestyle came to an end and Margaret continued to live in Qualicum Beach and lead an active life where her family, friends and the Qualicum Senior's Centre played a big part.

Margaret was happy and kind, smart and genuine. She took pride in everything she did from knitting to cooking, gardening to fashion.

Margaret was an excellent mother, grandmother, sister and a true friend to many. She will be greatly missed by her children Joanne, Kelly and Darlene; her sisters Irene and Flo; her grandchildren, Erika, Sydney, Cameron, Amy and Grace; spouses and extended family and friends.

Margaret died after a long battle with mesothelioma, which is a form of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on June 9th 1:30-3:30 pm at the Qualicum Memorial Golf Course 469 Memorial Ave., Qualicum Beach BC.
