Margaret Rose McGrath

Margaret Rose McGrath (nee Coote) passed peacefully on October 15, 2016 after a two year battle with damnable cancer. She was born October 18, 1932 in Luton, Bedfordshire, UK.  She is survived by:  her children Paul (Donna) of Qualicum, Steve (Leonie) of Newcastle, Australia, Tracey Turner (Dean) of Qualicum and Jane (Chris) of Parksville; grandchildren Joel, Kelsey, Patrick, Lucas, Alexander, Scott and Soren; family in England, America and Australia; and great friends. A special mention to Cathy who mum regarded as family.

Mum was a loving mother who always had sage advice, a quick wit and an open mind. She was a great problem solver, generous and creative. She had a lifelong talent for sewing, gardening and cooking. To her deepest joy, mum discovered an ability to paint in recent years. Over her work life she was a hatter, an upholstery machinist for Vauxhall Motors, a bookkeeper, a head housekeeper and everything in between. Her greatest fear was that she will be forgotten--but she left a legacy of fond memories too wonderful to forget.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or Oceanside Hospice, whose staff were exceedingly caring in mum’s final days.
