Rey, (Peggy) Margaret Rose

(nee Webster)

Born October 1, 1920 in Belleville, Ontario and died peacefully December 18, 2014 at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, BC.

Peggy grew up in Ontario where she went to school and work, met Joseph Rey when he was stationed at Trenton before he went to the war in Europe with the RCAF, and took the train on her own out to BC to get married to Joe on his return from the war. They were married in Duncan, BC in 1948. Peggy and her husband then resided in Trail and later Victoria, BC, where they raised three daughters. Peggy was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Joseph’s. She loved the colours pink, and lilac (dressing and decorating accordingly), flowers, birds, dogs and other animals, walks and picnics on the Gorge, annual vacations to Parksville, and her family. She enjoyed traveling Canada, the States, and to Hawaii. She once made many handicrafts and gifts for her family, from ceramics to knitting to needlework, and was an avid reader with a large library and other collections. She loved and lived many of her years in the home she made with Joe with good neighbours on Colquitz Avenue in Victoria.

Peggy is predeceased by her daughters Rosemary and Shellagh, her husband Joe, her sisters Rita and Mary, her brothers-in-law John and Frances, her brothers Douglas and Robert, her parents Robert and Rose, her mother and father in law Elizabeth and Alex. She is survived by a loving family; daughters Mary Francine (Norman) Teng and Megan Elizabeth (Rick) Quitley; grandchildren Michelle, Jacob, Michael (Caroline), Jeremy (Karen), Ryan (Heather), Jessica, Lyndsey (Gio) Bevan; great grandchildren Joshua, Marcel, Saona, Carson, Jack, and Bryce; sister-in-law Catherine Garrett; extended family and friends; and true friend Faith Teng. Peggy will be so dearly missed by all who survive her; she blessed our lives truly.

Many thanks to those who cared daily for Peggy in her final years including staff at VGH in Victoria, and especially those at Stanford and Arrowsmith Lodges in Parksville. Special thanks to Marcella.

Cremation has taken place and Peggy’s ashes have been buried

in the Rey family plot at the Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria, BC.

There will be a gathering in honor of Peggy sometime later this year.
