With sadness we announce the passing of Marie Geldreich on February 20, 2018 at the age of 97.
Predeceased by her father Joseph and mother Blanche Ancion, husband Melvin (Bud) Geldreich, sisters Grace, Josephine, Anna, Blanche and brother Nicholas (Ella); Marie is survived by daughter Sharryl (Helmut) Schwarz of Port Alberni, BC (Sproat Lake), grandson Mark (Krystal) Schwarz of Cumberland, BC and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and raised on the farm south of Bow Island until moving into Bow Island in 1950 with Bud, Sharryl and her father Joseph (Joe). In 1978 Marie, Bud and Joe retired to Qualicum Beach, BC. Marie was caregiver to both grandmothers and her father Joseph who lived to be 101. She enjoyed golfing and curling and was actively involved with the C.W.L. in Bow Island.
Mom was a "Special Lady" and well-liked by all who knew her.
Marie's family would like to extend a Special Thank You to all the wonderful staff who were involved in Marie's care at Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach for the past two years and to the Home Support workers who came to her home to provide care. Also Thank You to the staff at Qualicum Foods and Pharmasave who were so kind to Marie.
Funeral Mass to be held at the Catholic Church of Ascension in Parksville, BC on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Father Mike Favaro officiating. Interment to follow in Qualicum Beach Cemetery with a reception at the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that you consider a donation to Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach.
