BARTON, Marjorie Turnbull

Passed away peacefully in Qualicum Beach on October 31, 2005 at the age of 101 


Lovingly remembered by her daughter Barbara Elliott; niece Jennifer (Godfrey) Ferguson; nephew Geoffrey (Pat) Leney; grandnephews Colin (Caroline) Leney and Paul Leney; grandniece Beverly (Rob) Lockie and their young children Jonathon and Christina. Predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1968, her sisters Buster (Eric) Leney, Joy Norie and Elisabeth Norie and nephew Jonathon Leney.

Born in the Cowichan Valley, Marjorie was the eldest daughter of Louis and Jessie Norie of “The Norns” at Cowichan Station. As a young

woman she raised Jersey cattle on the family farm and was an active member of the Cowichan Valley Riding Club. Married in 1940, the

Bartons moved to Dashwood which was Marjorie’s home until 2000 when she became a resident pf Eagle Park, Health Care Facility. The Bartons were early members of the Silver Spur Riding Club. Marjorie had a Life Membership in the Little Qualicum Women’s Institute and

was a long serviing member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. She will always be remembered for her garden and her love of animals.

Grateful thanks to the marvelous staff at Eagle Park, especially those on the Pink Wing, Dr. G. McIntyre and her faithful friends.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 1:00 pm at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 138 West Hoylake, Qualicum Beach, BC,
