It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjory Tinkham at N.R.G.H. after a courageous battle with pneumonia. Marjory was born in Ditton Park, SK., before moving to Vancouver and then to the Island where she lived most of her life in Coombs and Parksville.

She worked hard many years at The Island Hall Hotel and Arrowsmith Lodge. Marjory was predeceased by her children Jeanne (1967), John (1981) and Janet Haylock (2004). She was also predeceased by her husband, Jack (1986) & siblings Dorothy, May, Len, Frances & Clifford.

She is survived by her daughters Judy Williams (Ian), and Joanne Avis (Peter), her grandchildren Damon Leeson (Angie), Erin Meier (Dean), Jenna Halliwell (Dave), Emily Stubbs (Erik), Jonathan Avis (Alicia), Mike Avis (Kristin), and Kristen MacKenzie (Peter). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Taylor & Jax Leeson, Jaala, Trey & Matthea Meier, Weston Halliwell, and Liam Avis along with her brother Harald.

Mom never had a great deal to say, but her actions spoke volumes as to the kind and generous soul that she was.

Thanks you to the 3rd Floor staff at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach for the loving care she received for the past three years. Special thanks goes to Dr. P. Juralowicz and Dr. L. McClure of Parksville, and Dr. J. Walker and Lisa and Abby at N.R.G.H.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Children’s Hospital would be appreciated. No more sadness, Mom, R.I.P. xo
