A Mother’s Love is a blessing

We’ll miss her when she’s gone.


Mary Teresa Beebe, born to Patrick and Bridget Chambers in Skirdagh, Mayo, Ireland on the 19th of September 1914 went to join her loved ones on January 27th, 2013. Mary was the 2nd oldest of 13 children, and has three younger sisters surviving, Cathy, Pauline and Nancy all in England. Mary married Paul in England in 1941. He predeceased her May 6th, 2008. She was also predeceased by two sons, Barry in 1943 and Earl in 1966.

Mary is survived by daughter Phyllis (Al) Thompson, Kelowna, son Doug (Karen) Beebe, Lethbridge, daughter Trish (Allan) Andres, Kelowna and daughter-in-law Jean Beebe, Surrey. Mary is survived by grandsons: Dan Wieteska (Scotland), Dan (Naomi) Beebe & Clay Beebe, Surrey, Brad (Kimie) Beebe, Vancouver, Ron Hann & Doug Hann, Fort Erie, Will (Irena) Thompson, Calgary, and Matthew Andres, step-grandson, Victoria; granddaughters: Michelle McColl, Thunder Bay, Shannon (Sean) Murphy, Bowmanville, Kelly Kehoe (Henry Kroon) Chilliwack, step-granddaughters, Kelly Lawrence and Debby Thompson, Kelowna. Mary is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is lovingly remembered by nephews and nieces and further extended family throughout the world.

Mary revisited Rosturk Castle, Mulranny, Mayo where she worked in the early 30’s, Amerdon Ponds in Taplow, England where she worked in the 40’s and McKellar General Hospital where she nursed in the 50’s and 60’s. Mary and Paul moved to Kelowna from Thunder Bay in 1968. In 1981 Mary and Paul moved to Bowser. Mary loved friends and family with an unconditional love, never saying an unkind word and never a word of complaint.

In 2003 Mary and Paul returned to Kelowna where Paul went into care and Mary took up residence at the Bench. At 94 years, she travelled to Ireland for a family reunion and upon her return went to live with Phyll & Al. In 2011 Mary decided herself to take up residency at Three Links Care Centre. She was much loved by fellow residents and staff. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 9th, 2 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 696 Glenmore. Additional services for Paul & Mary will be held in Thunder Bay and for Mary in Newport, Mayo, Ireland – dates to be set.
