On Sunday, February 23rd our mother left this world to dance among the stars with our father, the love of her life. She was a wonderful and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Born in Hazelton, BC to Hazel & Nicolac Lutyk, she grew up in Willow River, BC along with her brothers Steve, Clary and sister Chris. Mom travelled to New Westminister where she met Alex Windram, they were married on December 18, 1948. They built their first home together in Coquitlam where they raised their four children Linda, Judy, Jimmy and Wendy. Upon Dad's retirement they moved to Vancouver Island where they built their second home at Columbia Beach, Parksville where Mom resided until one day before her passing.
Mom cherished her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mom loved gardening, playing cards, dancing, music, vacationing in Hawaii, cooking for her family and friends and giving back to her community. She loved living in Columbia Beach and valued friendships formed through her connections at the Legion and her Church. She was a compassionate, courageous and caring individual who shared her love unconditionally with those closest to her.
Save a dance for all of us Mom. We love you with all our hearts and miss you dearly. Until we meet again.
The family would like to thank her GP- Dr. Fridriksson, Dr. Jorge and the Emergency Department Staff as well as the 3rd floor staff of the Nanaimo Regional Hospital for their care and compassion for Mom while she was in their care.
A service will be held at Mom's Church St. Stephen's United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach on March 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers and to honour our Mom donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Mount Arrowsmith Branch #49, Parksville, Society of Organized Services (SOS) District #69 Parksville or St. Stephen's United Church, Qualicum Beach.
