Jun 22, 1933 - Feb 9, 2018
With sadness we announce the passing of Arlene at her home near Qualicum Beach on February 9 after a period of illness.

Arlene was born in Cornwall, Ontario on June 22, 1933 to Rita and Perry LeGault. In 1947. Arlene relocated with her parents to the West Coast where, in 1950, she met and married Keith C. Smith and soon after began raising a family. Places called home at one time or another were Haney, North Vancouver, the East Kootenays and lastly Qualicum Beach.

Arlene was predeceased by her father (1986), her mother (2000) and her husband (2000).

She is survived by her loving children, son Michael (Ruth), daughter Jamie and son Blake (Elaine) and grandchildren Kalum (Mary), Clayton, Cody (Natsuko), Savannah and great grandchildren Silk, Sequoia, Javin and Satsuki.

Mom took pleasure in the company of family and friends and tending her many wonderful gardens. A curious nature and a love of reading were combining forces in a life-long pursuit of knowledge that continued until recent through Elder College. Mom enjoyed sewing and knitting, travel, art and many outdoor wilderness adventures during her earlier years. She will be greatly missed.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at her Qualicum residence on Saturday, February 24 between 1-3 pm.

In lieu of flowers a donation might be given to her favourite charity, the Salvation Army.
