December 4, 1936 - October 28, 2024

In loving memory ~

Mary Veronica Huzio, of Parksville, BC, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, at Stanford Seniors Village. Mary was born on December 4, 1936, to Samuel and Pearl Huzio, in Bassano Alberta.

Mary spent much of her childhood living in the countryside near Drumheller Alberta, and spoke fondly of her many cousins and her extended family there. Mary went to high school in Calgary and soon after married Hamish Cardno from Scotland. She moved to North Vancouver, BC and had 2 daughters, Cindy and Sheila.

Mary eventually divorced and moved back to Calgary where she worked as a security guard at the Calgary airport, and sold jewelry at Mappins Jewellers in Chinook Mall until her retirement at age 67. Mary moved to Parksville BC in 2009 to be near her 3 grandchildren.

Mary's greatest love was for her grandchildren and for all animals. She is survived by her cousin Alec Bulechowski of Calgary, her 2 daughters Cindy and Sheila from Parksville, and her 3 grandchildren Emily, Joshua, and Nick.

There will be a small private ceremony at a future date at St Mary's Cemetery in Calgary. There, Mary's daughters, will lay her to rest at her home beside her Mother Pearl, her Father Sam, and her Brother Walter.

Memorials or donations may be made to the BC SPCA or to the Parksville-Qualicum Beach SPCA in honour of Mary's lifelong love of animals.
