Mavis Ninette Banks, 81, daughter of Grace and Robert Torrens and loving wife for 60 fabulous years to
Harold Banks, passed away in Regina, SK on
August 11, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mavis and Harold raised a beautiful family, Cheryl (Tim), Bryan (Muriel), Brent and Scott (Shelley) and was a wonderful grandmother to her four grandchildren, Jason, Blaine, Koa and Kalani. She was also a loving older sister to Ronald Torrens and Sharon Lowery.
Mavis was a nurse at the Regina General Hospital before pausing to raise her family. She then worked hard to re-certify and went back to work in a physician’s office. After many years of living and raising a family in Regina, Mavis and Harold moved to Parksville, BC, where they enjoyed west coast island living for 12 years before moving back to Regina.
They often vacationed in Hawaii and Mexico and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Mavis was an avid reader and was often found enjoying a good book. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and hosting card night with her good friends. But most of all she loved her time with Harold, the love of her life.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A CELEBRATION OF MAVIS’S LIFE will be Hawaiian dress optional and held at Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday August 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
Flowers gratefully declined, all who wish can make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
