Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland on January 7, 1923. She and her husband Richard (Dick) enjoyed boating along the Clyde. Margaret and Dick immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1963 with their four children Avril, Richard, Ronald, and Elaine. The family moved to Qualicum Beach in 1975. Margaret worked at the Sand Pebbles on the Qualicum Beach waterfront. She was in charge of their popular salad bar. In 1980 Margaret and Dick opened “Margaret’s Sandwich Bar” on Memorial Ave in Qualicum Beach. Lunch was their specialty with her famous sandwiches, beach subs, and home made soups. The business was sold in 1987 and was renamed Sunshine Sandwich Garden. Today it is known as 694 Tapa Room. Margaret enjoyed carpet bowling and won many trophies. She was also an avid and lucky bingo player. In December 2006 Margaret moved to an independent living suite at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach. She enjoyed The Gardens and met lots of new friends. She was their “Scottish Lass”.

Margaret spent her final days at The Gardens and was treated very well by all of the staff. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Dick in 1993, brother Tommy and sister Ena. She is survived by sisters Elizabeth (Betty) and Isobel, and her children Avril, Richard (Kelly), Ronald (Midge), Elaine, twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Margaret was a great Mum, Nana, sister, and friend and she will be truly missed. We love you!
