STRAIN, Mel
On Friday, April 25, 2003, Melfort Ellsworth Strain passed away at the age of 93 years.
Mel and family moved to Qualicum Beach in 1947. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Pythias and the Royal Canadian Legion. Mel loved music and was a member of the Coombs Old Time Fiddlers for many years. He participated in the community by helping found the District 69 Ambulance Service and he was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department.
Mel was pre-deceased by his son Tom. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Jean, daughters Lois (Rory) Powell of Port Alberni, Caroline (Bruce) Warn of Qualicum Beach, daughter-in-law Laila Strain of French Creek, grandson Ryan (Cory) Powell and great granddaughter Tiffany of Calgary.
There will be memorial service on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at the Branch 69 Royal Canadian Legion hall in Qualicum Beach.
