Melania Cecilia HOFFMAN
May 25, 1931 – August 25, 2015
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a beautiful sister, friend, and Aunt. Melania (Melanie) Cecilia was born on May 25, 1931 to John and Lousia Wegleitner in Fulda, Saskatchewan. She was peacefully called to the Lord’s home on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 for a blessed reunion with her husband, Tom.
Melania grew up on the family farm in Fulda, Saskatchewan where she learned how to work hard but still have fun. She received her education in the Edson & Fulda schools and earned her CNA degree at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Melania married Thomas Hoffman on July 3, 1965. After their marriage, they moved to an acreage in Qualicum Beach. Although she never had any children of her own, she has many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly. Melania was well known for her love of music, baking, and her zest for life. She had fun wherever she went. Melania loved to travel and go exploring with her husband Tom and, after his passing, with her many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was always ready for adventure.
Melania was predeceased by her husband, Tom in 2004; parents, John and Louisa Wegleitner; brothers, John Jr. (Brigetta), Frank (Agnes), August, Lambert, Alois (Theresa), and Romald; sisters, Katie (George), Marie (Martin), Bertha (John), Johana (Math); Ida, Gertrude (Bill), Elizabeth (John); brother-in-law, Albert Weiland; great nephew, John Peter. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph (Dorothy) and Ludwig (Lida); sister, Christina; sisters-in-law, Lois and Jeanette. She will also be loving remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Melania’s honour at 11:00 am on Thursday, September the 3rd
at the Catholic Church of the Ascension,
887 Wembley Road in Parksville.
