BREAKWELL, Melville George
Mel passed away peacefully in Nanaimo Hospital October 26, 2005
at the age of 80 years
He was predeceased by his first wife Joan and is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty); one brother Don (Lilian); two sons Ken (Debra)
and Kerry; two grandchildren Vanessa (Mike) and Amanda; two great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Mel will also be missed
by his step-children Sage (Ron), Lynette (Ron), Martin (Elaine) and Randy; his step-grandchildren, his many good friends and his little
poodle “Candy.”
Mel proudly served in WWII in the Canadian navy in Atlantic convoy escorts. He spent many years in the stationery business in Winnipeg,
Edmonton and Victoria. He retired from his custom rubber stamp business in 1983.
By Mel’s request no service will be held but a Celebration of Life will be held
Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Qualicum Beach
from noon to 2:00 pm
After retirement, Mel and Betty spent the years RVing, wintering in Yuma, Arizona and holidaying in Hawaii. Mel was a kind and gentle
man with a great sense of humour and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank Parksville Home Support for their help and kindness through the months at home and a special thanks to Dr.
Gordon McIntyre for his thoughtful caring and help during Mel’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mel’s favourite charity, the Salvation Army Food Bank.
