Merle passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospice in Parksville, BC. She is predeceased by her best friend and loving husband of 65 years, Bob (Robert), her loving daughter Joanne and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Lynn, son-in-law Peter, granddaughter Lisa (John), grandson Thomas (Erin) step grandson Sam, many nieces and nephews and her two devoted caregivers.
Merle was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Inez and Arthur Sibley. The youngest of eight children, she enjoyed the busy household and the antics of her brothers and sisters. She was very proud of her family and loved to tell stories about them.
As a young woman she moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she met Bob. They married in 1950. In 1964 they moved to Vancouver and together started and operated two successful businesses. After retiring in 1996 they moved to Qualicum Beach, becoming active members of the Probus Club and volunteering with Citizens on Patrol.
We will miss Merle's kindness, friendliness, sense of humour and most of all her sweet smile.
Thank you to Dr. Hunter and the wonderful staff and volunteers at Trillium Hospice for their care and support of Merle and her family and friends. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Oceanside Hospice Society or a charity of your choice.
