Feb 2, 1960 - Apr 3, 2018
A selfless, kind-hearted man has left us to "Explore strange new worlds," to "Seek out new life and new civilizations," and "To boldly go where none of us have gone before."

Born on Groundhog Day 1960, Mike passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital April 3rd, 2018 after a hard fought, two-month battle with Pancreatitis spending most of that time at NRGH in the ICU.

We would like to thank the staff there for all of the wonderful care and attention in making Mike feel comfortable during those last weeks.

Mike was predeceased by his Mother Sonya, his Sister Tara, and his very special furry friend 'Bree'. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his Father Tom, his Brother Tom Jr. (Sherry), his sister Dee, his nieces Crystal, Ainsley, Brooke and Tiffany and nephew Riley, his step children Jason and Malisa, many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

After spending his early life in and around Langford and Victoria and working for Stockers Moving Company, Mike married and helped raise Jason and Malisa in the beautiful Shawnigan Lake area.

He spent many days in the outdoors enjoying his motorbike and fishing with his Dad. Mike moved with his parents up Island in the early 90's and settled in with new hobbies and new friendships that lasted through the rest of his life. He became an award-winning photographer and did numerous pet-sitting assignments-he loved all animals and all animals loved him!

Mike was happiest outdoors, travelling or shopping with his Dad, or simply sitting watching a good science fiction program. He supported many local events and was always a reliable person to call when there was an emergency. Mike was a good listener and genuinely cared about the people around him.

At Mike's request, cremation has taken place. There will be a tree ceremony to celebrate Mike and Sonya's lives at Arrowsmith Golf & Country Club on Saturday, May 5 at 2 pm.

If you wish, donations can be made in Mike's honour to the charity of your choice.
