EARTHY, Mildred Ann (nee McColl) Born in Duncan, BC on August 23, 1922 to Eddie
and Beatrice McColl. Passed away in Nanaimo July 26, 2004 from complications of a heart attack. She is predeceased by her husband Fred, her sister Jill McKellar and her grandson Peter Hallat. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her daughter Susan (Doug) Hallat, sons Chris and David, grandchildren Mike (Laurie), Jodi (Chad), Lucas and Jason and their mother Hilary, and Marcel and his mother Brigitte and great grandsons Matthew, Marty and Daniel. Her sisters Vaughn McMorland, Linda (Bill) DiCastri, brothers Don McColl, Bill (Karen) McColl and many nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her dear friend Angus Fettis. Mildred worked for BC Tel for many years being a pioneer of the industry. Her job took her from Duncan as an operator in her late teens to Victoria, Campbell River, Vancouver, ending her career in Victoria as Chief Operator. Her retirement took her to Qualicum Beach, where she had spent her summers as a young child when her father worked for the railway. She loved her golf at Eaglecrest where she had two holes in one, both on the 6th hole. Mother has always loved her gardens and her crafts, sewing, knitting, weaving (spinning her own yarn), and most recently quilting. We all have our lovingly made quilts and wall hangings that we will treasure. Mildred was a member of St. George the Martyrs Church, guild and choir in Cadboro Bay, Victoria for many years and will be remembered as a great Girl Guide leader. She served on the Board of Directors of the Four Seasons Musical Theatre Group. Her love of her family and friends will be cherished forever. A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at Eaglecrest Golf and Country Club on August 9, 2004 from 1:00 - 4:00.
