Morley Ian Meiklejohn

August 2, 1930 - December 14, 2016

Morley passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Morley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan; children, Doug, Scott (Jan), and Janet; sisters-in-law, Pat George and Gloria Meiklejohn; brother-in-law, Jack Holtby; grandchildren, Travis, Kimberly, Justin, Meagan, Peter, Rachel and Tommy; and nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon D. Meiklejohn; sister-in-law, Shirley Holtby; brother-in-law, Bill George; and nephew, Jeff George.

As a young man, Morley played for the Regina Pats. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree. After university, Morley went on to enjoy a very distinguished career with the Government of Saskatchewan which spanned more than three decades. His passion for bridge, sports, in particular golf, continued throughout his life as did his passion for politics and finance. Through his varied interests and business, Morley developed some very special lifelong friendships. In his later years, Morley never missed a Blue Jays game or CNBC closing bell on tv. He was often a willing partner for Joan and other duplicate bridge friends.

Many thanks to Dr. Hugh Fletcher and the caring staff in the emergency department at Nanaimo Regional Hospital for their support during this difficult time.

Morley will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
