Muriel Ilderton

April 5, 1933 - June 20, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Ilderton on June 20, 2016.

Muriel will be missed by her sons, Paul (Dorothy) of New Zealand and John; grandchildren, Dylan and Darcy of Kenora, Ontario. She leaves behind to mourn lifelong friend Helen Avery of England, Elizabeth McCormick (Auntie Betty) and Terry, Graeme and Terri Carr. Also in mourning are her wonderful friends Marilyn MacLean and Bob Wilkinson of Parksville, the Ilderton’s, Carr’s and Lunt families of Winnipeg. She will be missed by many friends and family members across the world including England, Australia and West Hawk Lake, Canada.

Muriel was born in County Durham, England in 1933. She met her husband Ken while working in the payroll office at Newcastle Shipyards. They moved to Sydney, Australia in 1965 with two young sons. In 1972 they moved to Canada where they operated an electrical contracting company in West Hawk Lake, Manitoba for 25 years and Muriel became known as Mille Amp.

After her husband’s death she moved to Parksville to retire. She kept busy hanging fixtures and installing outlets for friends. She enjoyed walking the beaches and became a fixture at the second hand stores looking for treasures. Muriel enjoyed going to church when her little legs would still carry her. She never missed an episode of Coronation Street in 50 years and enjoyed one glass of port before retiring at night.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sulz and his staff as well as all the nurses, RCA and home care aids from Oceanside. Muriel’s last wishes came true because of your help. Thank you for everything.

Muriel will be missed but never forgotten.
