Murray Russell Dawson
August 13, 1951 - July 19, 2016
It is with great sadness that we are writing this. Our brother Murray has passed away peacefully in his bed after a long, hard, struggle to recover from an accident over a year ago.
Through all of this he maintained his sense of humour and love for helping others; volunteering to visit and encourage other like-victims of trauma and amputees. And he continued to pursue his passion for painting.
Murray was predeceased by his father, G R Dawson, mother, Dorothy E D Dawson (Williams), and sister, Rebecca J Dawson. He will be missed by many including his brothers, Bruce M Dawson and Ian G Dawson, sister, Marion P D Mills (Dawson), nephews, Cory Dawson, Tyler Dawson, Benjamin Dawson, Graham Dawson and Nathanael Mills, nieces, Evangeline Taller (Mills), Victoria Gort (Mills) and Stephanie Woolnough (Mills), great-nieces, Maya Dawson, Glorienna Taller, Avia Taller, Emery Taller and Maria Woolnough and great-nephews, Zachary Woolnough, Ashton Woolnough, Kaleb Gort and Kyler Gort.
Murray loved the ocean and was well known at the French Creek and Quadra Island docks where he kept his boats. He was an avid gardener, loved outdoors, was a gifted musician and artist, and above all, loved to laugh.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Yates Funeral Service, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, BC on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at 1pm.
