Myra Joan Worsley (Heaps)

June 20th 1922 - April 3rd 2016

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Myra who passed away peacefully at Stanford Place nursing home in Parksville BC.

Myra was born and raised in Alderley Edge, Cheshire England, an only child of Emily and Herbert Worsley, and lived in England until the age of 61.

She joined the woman’s Auxilliary Airforce in 1940 and later married Victor Heaps on October 23rd 1944. They had two children: a son Christopher John and daughter Mary Gillian (Harding). She was predeceased by her husband who passed away in 1969 and her son in 2010.

She has a grandson Jack and a granddaughter Josephine who live in England. Myra came to Canada in 1983 and lived in the Abbotsford BC Area before moving to Vancouver Island where she resided in Parksville for many years.

Throughout her life she was very talented at sewing and enjoyed gardening. In the six years she lived a Stanford Place she would request to be taken out to the garden whenever possible and her devoted friend Christine Cooper would always be willing to take her, assisting her with weeding, planting and feeding the birds.

Stanford Place became her home where she was made comfortable and well cared for by all the staff. Myra’s honest personality and spunk were admired by all who came to know her and she will remain in our hearts lovingly.

A celebration of life for Myra will be held at

Stanford Place on a date yet to be determined.
