Passed away on December 3, 2012 with her sister and nieces by her side. Myrette was born in Coatbridge, Scotland in 1935. After graduating from Glasgow University she taught school in Scotland for several years. In 1960 she came to Canada and taught at Abbotsford High School until retirement when Qualicum Beach beckoned. Her interests were many and varied. Myrette was an accomplished pianist, a budding artist/photographer and a prolific writer. The hardships of the physically challenged motivated her to work to influence changes in the community.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Sheila Sturgeon (Drummond) of Fanny Bay her nieces Gina Meijer (Paul) of Victoria and their children Miranda and Andrew and Moira Newsom (Quinn) of Cumberland and their children Tori, Rylee, Willow and Jasmin.
Myrette’s friends are very welcome to join us on December 15th at 2:00 pm at the Yates Funeral Home in Parksville where we will celebrate a life well lived.
