April 14, 1947 - March 8, 2013

Nancy Anderson passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her beloved home on March 8, 2013. She is survived by her two children Geoffrey (Vanessa) and Jessica (Darren), sister Janice, as well as a close network of extended family and friends.

Nancy was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She moved to the lower mainland of British Columbia in the late 1960’s where she worked in the public education system for the City of Vancouver. She moved to Vancouver Island in 1993 with her two children and settled in the Parksville - Qualicum area.

For the past 16 years Nancy was employed as an office manager by Dr. Larry Smith, Chiropractor. She flourished in this position and was appreciated by Dr. Larry and his patients for her intelligence, loyalty, compassion and wonderful sense of humor. She believed and practiced rigorous honesty and was probably the most politically incorrect person of our time.

Nancy was a devoted mother, loyal friend, voracious reader, published author, and an accomplished home decorator. She took great pride in her home and garden and spent her last hours relaxing on the patio soaking up the sun. She did not fear death and recently proclaimed that “it’s about quality and peace, not about quantity and duration.”

Nancy lived with integrity, dignity and determination to her last breath. She will be deeply missed by each and every person who was fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Friday April 5, 2013 at the Parksville Community Centre in the Garry Oaks Arbutus room commencing at 2:00 PM.  With the family’s encouragement, there will be an opportunity to speak for anyone who wishes to do so.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Nancy’s name.
