Nancy Winifred McMillan (nee Camp)

Dec 15, 1923 – Dec 13, 2017
McMillan, Nancy Winifred (nee Camp) passed away peacefully at Eagle Park Care Facility on December 13, 2017, two days before her 94th birthday.

Born in Vancouver, BC on December 15, 1923, she is predeceased by parents Sidney and Winifred Camp, and brothers Robert and Raymond.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Don McMillan. Nancy is lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia, Bruce (Wanda), Sharon (David) and Mark (Shelley); grandchildren Janice, Tara, Evan, Matthew, and Emma.

Nancy’s family moved to Port Alberni in her teen years, where her love of music led to a job at “Fletcher’s Music Store”. In the 1940’s the family moved to Qualicum Beach to run the Village Cafe. Nancy met Don while working in the Village Theatre box office and they were married in 1950.

Things that brought joy to Nancy were family and friends, her pets, gardening, and being active in the community. She was a member of the St. Mark’s Altar Guild and was a driving force in creating the Beautification Committee, Residents Association and Town Planning Committee.

She was a proud supporter of the Rotary Club and was a host for the International Student Exchange program for over twenty years.  She was recognized by the club with the Paul Harris Award for her hard work and community contributions.

The family extends special thanks to: the caring staff and volunteers at Eagle Park; Dr. Hugh Fletcher; the Rev. Rob Hutchison and other visitors from St. Mark’s; the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach; the friends and neighbours whose frequent visits always brightened her day.

A service will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church on January 12th @ 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Parksville-Qualicum Beach and District Branch of the BC SPCA.
