JOHNSON, Nora (Hawkes)
Nora passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2006 at the age of 71.
Predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Mary Hawkes and brother William (Bill) Hawkes. Nora will be dearly missed by her 3 children, Debbe (Doug) Patterson, Michael (Louise) Johnson and David Johnson and her grandchildren, Taylor and Reese Patterson and Ross Johnson. Nora spent most of her life on Vancouver Island and cherished her days growing up on the family homestead in Coombs. She worked for many years for the Bank of Montreal in Port Alberni, Victoria (where she was promoted to Branch Manager) and finally in Nanaimo where she decided to switch careers and become one of the first women to work for Investors Group as a Certified Financial Planner. For over 10 years Nora was an active member of Altrusa. After 18 years with Investors Group she retired and spent her days golfing, lawnbowling, traveling to exotic places, volunteering at the tourist center and spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of Nora’s life will be held on February 8, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Club House at Craig Bay Seaside Village, 1300 Gabriola Drive in Parksville, which is located behind the Parksville Visitors Bureau.
In lieu of flowers, a donation is gratefully accepted in Nora’s memory to the charity of your choice.
