It is with sad hearts that we report the passing of

Norbert Ray Ladouceur

Norbert was born April 23rd 1924 in Styl Alberta, the 7th of 10 children. He met and married Elaine Campbell and the two moved to Vancouver Island shortly after their marriage. There they began a family. First with daughter Fae, followed soon after by son Grant. They settled in the Qualicum Bay area where he was involved in the logging industry for most of his working life. They moved around the Central Vancouver Island area with his work until he retired from Crown Zellerback after more than 20 years with the company.

He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, spending his spare time sport fishing and hunting here on the Island and in the Interior of B.C. Many friends and family will recall adventures with him on the water or in the woods. Even if you missed out on the trip you would feel like you had been there from the stories and pictures that followed.

Norbert was also known for being talented with his hands, and he was generous with his time and expertise. Whether it be for a building project, a broken car, or fixing most anything presented to him, he was always willing to lend a hand and solve the problem.

It is said that still waters run deep, and this was so with Norbert. He is known more for his strong presence and warmth of heart than for his abundance of words, or volume of voice. When he did speak, you could be sure it was something worth hearing. His quiet dignity will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years Elaine and daughter Fae, along with many friends and an extended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all hope he is enjoying the outdoors somewhere together with his son Grant who passed before him.

With our “camp boss” now gone, we will remember him with love. In memory

of Norbert we will keep our rod

tips up and our spirits high

knowing he would have

it no other way.
