SMITH, Norman Edward (Mike)
Born October 1, 1913 in Ladner, BC.
Died June 16, 2004 in the Nanaimo Hospital.
He was predeceased by his brother Jack 1982, his sister Irene 2001 and his step-son John in 1971.
He is survived by his loving wife Lauretta of 55 years, daughter Judy (Rennie) Haylock, granddaughters Brodie, Brieane (Bobby) Rietzel, Calais and Cailen and his great granddaughters Jorden and Parker Rietzel.
Mike served in the Second World War 1942-1945. He was wounded in Holland and spent two years in the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver after his return. He was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61.
Mike worked in road construction for Dawson Construction for over 36 years before retiring in Ladner and then later to the Island.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
No service by request.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
