January 16, 1943 - March 24, 2020
Pat passed away on Tuesday March 24th after a valiant, protracted battle against pancreatic cancer fought with determination and humour.
Born in Norwich, England, Pat was a devoted husband and best friend to Maggie for 55 and a half years. They enjoyed their life together in England, Germany and Canada where his work as a Chemical Engineer took him. Pat was a loving, kind, generous and droll father to Sam and Phil and will be greatly missed by them and their partners, Wil and Xander. Brother in law to June and favourite uncle to many of his nephews and nieces, he was beloved by all his extended family.
A tortured Norwich City FC fan, Pat enjoyed soccer, a good round of golf (that most elusive of things), tai chi, a challenging crossword, a fiendish sudoku, a troubled Bob Dylan song and a fine glass of Brunello.
We wish to thank all Pat and Maggie's friends and neighbours for their support and kindnesses particularly over the past two years. Our gratitude goes out to all the staff of the Nanaimo Cancer Clinic for the excellent care they afforded him as well as Doctors Kulla, Owen and Sulpher.
At Pat's request, there will be no formal service. A more casual celebration will be held when we are all safe to do so. Anyone wishing to honour his memory can do so by making a donation to the BC Cancer Agency.
