We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Peter Heinrich Peters, of Qualicum Beach, on April 5, 2009. Peter was the beloved husband of Wendy for 41 years and the father of Leanne from Brandon, MB and Mark (Alison Fraser) from Winnipeg, MB. Peter was born on December 7, 1943 and grew up on a farm in southern Manitoba. Upon completing his education, he moved to Winnipeg where he began an enjoyable career as a police officer with the Winnipeg Police Service. After his retirement on March 5, 1994, he and Wendy moved west to “Almost Heaven” aka Qualicum Beach. It is here that Peter pursued his loves of golfing, fishing and singing. Peter was an active member of the Knox United Church choir and his strong tenor voice will be missed. Peter and Wendy travelled extensively, including trips to Brazil, England, Thailand and Hong Kong. Peter’s insatiable curiosity and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service was held at Knox United Church on April 9, 2009. Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the BC chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society. http://www.cancer.ca.
