Feb. 15, 1934 - Jan. 29, 2011

Peter Miller passed away on January 29 after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by Angela, his wife of 54 years, four children and seven grandchildren.

Whilst serving with the Royal Air Force, he attended Cambridge University and completed a linguistics course in Russian. He then attended the London School of Economics obtaining his Bachelor of Science. After deciding to pursue a career in teaching, he graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Leeds in England.

With a young family Peter and Angela came to Canada and he attended the University of Alberta where he furthered his education with a Masters and then a Doctor of Philosophy in Education.

After completing his Ph. D. Peter became Head of the Department of Education Foundations and finally the Dean of Students at the University of Alberta.

When Peter retired in 1996 he moved to Qualicum Beach where he was able to follow his other passions full time. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. He also loved his garden, wrote poetry and photographed his flowers with a talent that rivaled professionals.

Peter was a loving husband and father. He will be remembered for his kindness and patience and his uncanny ability to provide sound advice whenever asked. He affected the lives of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Nanaimo hospital for the care and kindness Peter received during his illness.

As an expression of sympathy, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society can be made.
