September 26, 1947 - July 29, 2020
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Philip Wilson, well known as Flip, passed away after a brief time of failing health. He died in the peacefulness of his home with his beloved wife and family at his side.
Flip was a loving, gentle and caring husband, father and grandfather who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife and best friend of 47 years Diana, his children Kyle (Kerri), Mosa, 4 grandchildren Justyn, Lily, Anthony and Summer.
Flip will also be fondly remembered by his sister Nancy, brothers Norval Jr., Harold and by his numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Flip was predeceased by his father Norval Sr., mother Doris, sisters Velma, Janet, Lenora, Cheryl, brothers Paul and DuWayne.
Flip was born and lived in Harrow Ontario until the age of 21 when along with friends decided to travel by train across Canada to the West Coast. Shortly after arriving in Vancouver Flip wanted to explore Vancouver Island and ended up loving Parksville so much he stayed. This is where he met Diana; they quickly became friends and knew they would be life partners.
Flip worked in the logging industry for MacMillan and Bloedel until he was hired by the Village of Parksville in 1975 as their first staff machine operator. Over his working career he made many friends and cherished the laughter and good times they shared. It gave him great joy to smile and wave to the local children watching him operate his machinery.
He retired in September 2007 and loved spending time on his acreage working on his many projects, enjoying nature, reading, camping, and vacationing in Melaque, Mexico. Children held a special place in his heart.
He was actively present and attended all events where his children and grandchildren were concerned. Throughout his life he was a hardworking, dedicated and kind man.
The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the Palliative team who assisted in Flip's care. He will live on in our hearts forever and never be forgotten.
Flip wanted to tell his friends "It was a pleasure knowing you" and instead of a service he's asked for Peace.
