Phyllis is survived by children Nora (LaVerne) Nicholson, Dennis (Daphne) Nicholson and Myra (Wade) Hoefer. Grandchildren Michael (Patty) Barwick, Joe (Cathy) Barwick, Paul (Mary) Barwick and Bob (Angie) Barwick, Lisa (Roger) North, Gina (Phil) Gattuso and Zane Hoefer. Also survived by eight great grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. Mum graduated from St. Paul's School of Nursing in 1940. She continued her nursing career in California during the 1950's and 1960's. She and Dad returned each year to B.C. and made Vancouver Island their permanent home after retiring in 1972. They spent many wonderful winters in the California desert among all their old Canadian friends. Mum's love of family and friends were her main interests. She shared both her desert home and Parksville home, bringing much joy and laughter to all who entered. She exuded love. She will be deeply missed by so many people of all ages. Her battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis is finally over and she is at peace. Many thanks to her kind neighbours and the wonderful Parksville Home Support and nurses. Our Mother's Life will be celebrated in a Mass on Saturday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension in Parksville. A reception in the Church Hall will follow. Contributions to the Lung Association of B.C. would be a fitting Memorial. Funeral arrangements entrusted with PARKSVILLE FUNERAL CHAPEL, CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 250-248-4644
